MHSAA CANCELS REMAINDER OF 2019-2020 WINTER AND SPRING SEASONS

Dear Huskie Students and Families,
It's my sincerest hope all of you are at home, staying safe and healthy! To the parents and relatives of our Huskie students working on the frontlines during this time of emergency, please know we truly appreciate all of you and the services you're providing all of us in these very challenging times.
Earlier today, Governor Whitmer held a press conference communicating the continuance of our school year. The details of her message were to close all school buildings for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year delivering face-to-face instruction. Although this is emotionally straining on many levels, we are empowered to provide support and educational opportunities for our students. We are working diligently at this time to create those plans of action as we learn more about the requirements of the Executive Order.
Please know we are working collaboratively as a staff to prepare a new model of the delivery of instruction.
Please be assured Breckenridge Schools will continue to work to support families who don't have the connection or devices required to complete online learning or when an online approach is not appropriate. We will make sure your students are provided quality educational experiences.
Breckenridge Schools continues to work with our regional partners within Gratiot-Isabella RESD. Our regional team ackowledges that "together we can achieve more!" Consequently, please understand many meetings are taking place to provide support and educational services for your child. Please be patient and provide us additional time to complete our plans moving forward. More detailed information will be coming to you.

BREAKFAST AND LUNCH OPPORTUNITY: Due to school not being in session, Breckenridge Schools will provide free breakfasts and lunches to students age 18 and under. Meals can be picked up in front of the Elementary School on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9:30 a.m. until noon. Bus drivers will also be driving their normal bus routes on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays delivering meals to student's homes. The busses will depart the school between 8:30 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. and when the bus pulls in front of each house they will honk their horn letting you know they have arrived and we ask that you please come to the bus to collect the meals. ATTENTION SENIORS - LOCAL SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION INFORMATION: Any senior planning on attending a postsecondary education is strongly encouraged to apply for the local scholarships through Breckenridge Community Schools. The scholarships are available to students planning for a two-year college, four-year college, trade or vocational school. On the school website, click on 'Schools" tab, click on 'Middle/High School', click on 'Local Scholarships' on the left hand side of the page for complete information. Applications must be emailed to Mrs. Giles at email@example.com by 11:30 a.m. on Monday, April 6th. SENIORS SEE EMAIL FOR MORE INFORMATION. LATE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.
BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION: The Elementary and Middle/High School are enrolled in the Box Tops for Education program. Download the ALL-NEW Box Tops app from the Play Store, shop as you normally would, then simply scan your store receipts to find participating products. The app will automatically credit your school's Box Tops earnings online. Physical box tops clips are being phased out of production but may continue to be found on many products throughout the store. Send your clipped Box Tops, along with any unexpired clips you may have at home, with your student or you can drop them off at the Elementary or Middle/High School offices.

Breckenridge Community Schools is accepting school of choice students in Kindergarten through 12th grade! The deadline for applications is August 28, 2020. Please note there will be another school of choice window open at the end of first semester/trimester. Applications for school of choice are available in the superintendent's office, elementary office, & high school office.
