Breckenridge Athletics Weekly Update: May 18 – May 25 Huskie Pride Shines in Championship Week Across the Board! The final full week of May was packed with championship-level performances that showcased the heart of Breckenridge Athletics. From league titles in golf and track to thrilling baseball and softball battles, our student-athletes brought the heat. Whether it was Blaze Snyder battling to a playoff finish on the green, our track teams dominating the conference meet, or Noah Barr’s bat coming alive on the diamond, there was no shortage of Huskie heroics! Golf – MSAC Champions Crowned! The Breckenridge golf team had a week to remember, proving they’re a force both within and beyond their division. On Tuesday, the Huskies traveled to St. Louis for the Shark Classic and held their own against larger Division 3 competition, finishing 4th overall with a team score of 363. Blaze Snyder led the way, tying for 1st with a stellar 79 and finishing second after a playoff hole. Dylan Davenport (15th, 92) and Noah Barr (16th, 93) rounded out the top-20 finishes. They capped off the week on a high note Friday at The Emerald, battling through rain to claim the MSAC Championship by an incredible 52 strokes! The team posted a score of 343 and all six Huskie golfers placed in the top seven in the league. Snyder once again led with a 79, Carter Suhr took 2nd (82), Barr 3rd (90), Derek Becker and Keegan Suhr tied for 4th (92), and Davenport claimed 7th (95). Track & Field – MSAC Champs x2 at Home! The Huskie track teams put on a show at home as both the boys and girls teams claimed back-to-back MSAC Championships this past week. The performances were electric, with multiple personal records, podium finishes, and a deep sense of pride on full display. Boys Conference Champions included: Anthony Rowe in the 1600 (4:50.99) Zander Mapes swept the throws with wins in shot put (47'5") and discus (139'8") The 4x400 relay team (McCaw, B. Mayle, Br. Mayle, Rowe) clocked in at 3:46.11 Girls Conference Champions were led by: BayLeigh Clapp in the 100 (13.62) Kylo Riedel in the 100m hurdles (17.82) Dasia Denwiddie, in the 300m hurdles (49.51) 4x1 of Raegyn Mayer, Kayla Goward, Kylo Riedel, BayLeigh Clapp 53.47 4x2 of Kylo Riedel, Raegyn Mayer, Kayla Goward, Dasia Denwiddie 1:53.37 4x8 of Maizy Matthews, Avery Westall, Ally Schmitz, Danica Aldrich 11:45.71 Raegyn Mayer soared to a PR of 16’5” in the long jump to take 1st Second team and honorable mention finishes were too many to list here. The team effort was unmatched, and the Huskies made the most of their final conference meet at home. Congratulations to all the Track and Field athletes! Baseball – Battling Hard as Districts Approach The Breckenridge Varsity Baseball team faced a busy slate this week, highlighted by a high-powered split against Merrill and a hard-fought tournament run in Bay City. Monday vs. Merrill: In Game 1, the Huskies dropped a close 4-1 contest despite a strong 9-strikeout performance by Keegan Suhr. Blaze Snyder drove in the lone Huskie run. Game 2 was a different story. Noah Barr had a monster game, going 3-for-5 and helping lead a thrilling 10-8 extra-inning win. Gavin Corbat earned the win on the mound with strong relief, and multiple Huskies chipped in big hits, including Snyder, Clapp, and Davenport. Thursday vs. Montabella: Breckenridge split another doubleheader. In Game 1, Barr pitched well but the team couldn’t overcome some fielding miscues in a 5-2 loss. Game 2 was all Huskies. Corbat threw six solid innings, giving up just one run in a 3-1 win. Davenport and Barr each had two hits, and Snyder, Barr, and MacLaren drove in key runs. Saturday at Bay City Central: The Huskies dropped two tough matchups in tournament play. In a tight 4-3 loss to the Cougars, Davenport and Corbat each collected multiple hits. The second game against Bay City Central proved challenging, with the Huskies falling 14-0. Despite the score, the tournament provided crucial reps ahead of districts. Softball – Big Bats and a Bounce Back Win Breckenridge Varsity Softball showed both resilience and firepower this week with an offensive explosion in a split series vs. Merrill. Friday vs. Merrill: Game 1 was a slugfest with the Huskies coming up short 21-9. Despite the scoreline, the bats were hot with 11 hits. Emma Tinson and Blair Davenport each drove in two runs, while Tinson racked up three hits. Adyson Collins added an RBI single, and Lily St. John chipped in as well. Collins also struck out 10 batters in the circle. Game 2 was a turnaround victory for Breckenridge, with the Huskies winning 17-6 thanks to an offensive onslaught and a career day from Ava Colthorp, who went 3-for-4 with a home run, two singles, and several RBIs. Collins and Tinson also added clutch hits, and the team piled on five more runs in the 7th to seal the win. It was a big momentum boost for the team heading toward postseason play.

✈️ Our Physics class has taken flight! Students have been exploring the principles of aerodynamics by designing and testing paper airplanes. They experimented with how different shapes and materials affect lift, drag, and flight performance. The unit wrapped up with some friendly competition — from longest distance to hang time and even creative trick flights. Science in action has never looked so fun! 🧪📏 #STEM #PhysicsInFlight #HuskiePride

Breckenridge Athletics Weekly Update [5/12–5/18] The Huskies battled through a packed week of postseason pushes, walk-off wins, and championship momentum. From a walk-off victory in baseball to dominant golf on home turf, and a huge day on the track with 13 athletes punching tickets to the state finals, it was a week to remember across the board. Here's a look at how each sport showcased grit, growth, and greatness. Track & Field The Huskies traveled to Fowler on Saturday for the MHSAA Regional meet—and what a day it was. The girls’ team brought home runner-up, and the boys took third overall. Most impressively, 13 Huskie athletes earned qualifications to the MHSAA State Finals, a testament to the depth, dedication, and firepower of the program. Regional Champions: Anthony Rowe dominated the 1600 meters, winning in 4:49.53. Zander Mapes was untouchable in both throws, winning shot put (48’6.75) and discus (157’10). State Qualifiers: Girls 4x800 Relay: Maizy Matthews, Avery Westall, Ally Schmitz, Danica Aldrich (2nd, 10:43.7) Girls 4x100 Relay: Raegyn Mayer, Kayla Goward, Kylo Riedel, BayLeigh Clapp (2nd, 53.15) Girls 4x200 Relay: Riedel, Mayer, Goward, Denwiddie (2nd, 1:53.97) Girls 4x400 Relay: Denwiddie, Riedel, Westall, Clapp (4th, 4:27.93 – AQ time) Girls Long Jump: BayLeigh Clapp (2nd, 15’11.25) Girls 3200 Meters: Danica Aldrich (2nd, 12:29.38) Boys 300 Hurdles: Maddax McCaw (2nd, 44.23) Other Medalists & Highlights: Rowe also took 5th in the 3200 (11:02.27) and helped lead the 4x400 team to 6th place. McCaw added a 7th-place finish in the 110 hurdles and 6th in long jump. Andrew Clark placed 3rd in shot put (44’11.75) and 7th in discus. Clapp and Mayer each medaled in the 100 meter dash, placing 3rd and 4th respectively. The boys’ 4x200 relay team of Anthony Blair, Christian Dutton, Jaxton Keller, and Jackson Sterling placed 8th. The 4x400 team (McCaw, Braylon Mayle, Brock Mayle, Rowe) ran a strong race for 6th. With the state finals on the horizon, the Huskies are locked in and ready to chase greatness on Michigan’s biggest stage. Golf On Thursday, the varsity boys’ golf team capped off a dominant regular season by winning the final MSAC Jamboree at home at The Ridge Golf Course. Not only did they take first place again, but they did it in emphatic fashion—beating the second-place team by a staggering 34 strokes with a team score of 161. Blaze led the way, shooting an even-par 35 to win the jamboree. Noah Barr followed close behind with a 38 to take second place, while Keegan Suhr placed third with a 43. Dylan Davenport and Derek Becker each carded a 45 (T-7th), and Justin Toner rounded out the scoring with a 47 (10th). All six Huskie golfers finished in the top 10—a true team performance heading into this week’s 18-hole MSAC Championship at The Emerald. Baseball The varsity baseball team traveled to Vestaburg on Monday for a doubleheader that showcased both resilience and potential. In Game 1, the Huskies fell to Vestaburg 5-2 despite a strong effort on the mound by Noah Barr, who struck out seven batters across three innings. Gavin Corbat and Barr each drove in a run in the loss. Game 2 brought redemption. In a thrilling finish, Breckenridge pulled out a 4-3 walk-off win. Gavin Corbat was dominant on the mound with 12 strikeouts over six innings. A sixth-inning single by Bentley MacLaren tied the game, and a Vestaburg error in the bottom of the seventh sealed the Huskies’ dramatic victory. Braxton Clapp led the offense, going 3-for-3, while MacLaren, Corbat, and Dylan Davenport each drove in runs. Softball Breckenridge softball had a busy week with four games across two locations. On Monday at Vestaburg, the Huskies opened with a narrow 2-1 win behind a lights-out performance from Adyson Collins, who went the distance allowing zero earned runs. Leah Wale delivered the game-winning hit with a two-run single in the sixth inning. Game 2 was a tougher outing as the Huskies fell 8-0. Leah Wale started in the circle and battled for seven innings, but timely Vestaburg hits and errors proved too much to overcome. On Wednesday, Breckenridge hosted Bay City John Glenn and again split the doubleheader. In Game 1, the Huskies fell 11-1 despite a 2-for-2 performance from Ava Colthorp, who also drove in the team’s only run. Game 2 flipped the script as the Huskies exploded for a 12-9 victory behind Presley Butcher’s monster day at the plate. Butcher went 3-for-3 with two doubles, three RBIs, and two stolen bases. Lydia Slavik collected four hits from the leadoff spot and scored multiple times. Leah Wale and Lily St. John added run-scoring doubles, and Emma Tinson tripled in three. Adyson Collins came on in relief and delivered three and two-thirds innings of strong pitching to close out the win.
