The energy and school spirit following Homecoming have successfully channeled into meaningful academic work and student growth across the district. From innovative projects being featured in local news to celebrating student excellence in the classroom, this week has truly shown what our students can accomplish.
We see every day that when our schools and our families partner together, our students thrive. Thank you for your continued support in emphasizing the importance of attendance, encouraging academic excellence, and championing our students' success.

Dear Parents and Guardians,
We want to provide an important update and some reassurance regarding school meals.
Based on the latest guidance from the Michigan Department of Education, we are happy to confirm that Breckenridge Community Schools will continue to provide free breakfast and lunch to all students.
What This Means for Your Family:
Free Meals Continue: All students will continue to receive their school breakfast and lunch at no charge, just as they have been since the start of the school year. You do not need to worry about any immediate changes to meal service or cost. Please note: ale carte items at MS/HS do not fall under this service.
We've Got You Covered: We understand the state budget process is ongoing. We want to assure you that our district is committed to providing this service, and we will cover the costs to ensure all students continue to eat for free.
Future Funding: Once the State of Michigan's budget is officially approved, any state funding for school nutrition programs will be applied retroactively.
Please Still Complete the Benefit Application:
We must continue to collect and process the Education and Nutrition Benefit Applications (or Education Benefit Forms) from all families. Completing this form is essential, as it helps us maintain accurate eligibility records needed for our nutrition program claims and can qualify the district for additional federal funding and grants.
We appreciate your support and are dedicated to providing reliable, nutritious meals for all our students. If you have any questions or need help with the benefit application, please contact the school office (or Nutrition Services).
Sincerely,
Wade Slavik, BCS Superintendent

Our chemistry students kicked off their lab work today with a classic experiment: observing a candle. Their mission? To become scientific detectives and identify the reactants (what goes in, like wax and oxygen) and the products (what comes out, like light, heat, and invisible gases).
Itโs a brilliant, hands-on way to see how chemistry transforms the world around us, one molecule at a time! โจ

Congratulations to our Homecoming King, Gerreck McKenzie, and Homecoming Queen, Bayleigh Clapp! ๐๐๐ธ๐คด
They were crowned under the Friday night lights at last weekโs football game, representing our Huskie spirit with pride, class, and school spirit. ๐๐พ #HuskiePride #Homecoming2025
