Breckenridge Athletics Weekly Update [April 28 – May 3] Another dominant week for the Huskies! Baseball and Softball swept their opponents with explosive offense and sharp pitching, while Track athletes brought home hardware at the Shepherd Invite. It was a week that proved the Huskies are heating up at just the right time. Baseball: Huskies Go 4-0 Behind Offensive Surge April 29 vs. St. Charles (Home) The Huskies swept St. Charles in dominant fashion. Game 1: A 6-2 win featured Noah Barr’s strong 6-inning outing (7 Ks, 0 ER). Snyder added 2 RBIs, and Kaydence Gilbert drove in the go-ahead run. Game 2: Blaze Snyder drove in 4 runs with two triples in a 13-0 mercy win. Gavin Corbat struck out 9 in a shutout, and the defense was flawless. May 3 vs. Coleman (Home) Breckenridge stayed hot, sweeping Coleman. Game 1: Keegan Suhr went 3-for-4 with 2 RBIs in a 10-2 win. Corbat fanned 9 over 6 innings. Game 2: Barr was 3-for-3 at the plate and earned the win with 6 strong innings. Isaac Bush drove in 2 as the Huskies rolled 10-1. Softball: Huskies Dominate in 4-0 Week April 29 vs. St. Charles (Home) Breckenridge took two high-scoring wins over St. Charles. Game 1: Emma Tinson, Ava Colthorp, and Adyson Collins each drove in 3 runs in a 10-9 win. Collins struck out 12 in a complete game. Game 2: Tinson nearly hit for the cycle, while Wale and Butcher drove in 3 apiece in a 13-9 victory. Wale tossed 7 strong innings for the win. May 3 vs. Coleman (Home) The Huskies outscored Coleman 22-2 in a dominant sweep. Game 1: Collins struck out 10 in a 2-hit shutout. Slavik had 2 RBIs as Breckenridge pulled away with a 6-run fourth winning the game 11-0. Game 2: Tinson went 5-for-5 with 2 doubles, and Wale was 4-for-5 with 6 RBIs in a 11-2 rout. Track & Field The Huskies competed at the Shepherd Invitational on Friday, May 2nd, with the girls team earning 3rd place in the small school division and the boys finishing 7th. It was a strong showing across the board with several top performances and personal bests. Zander Mapes led the way for the boys, winning both the discus (154'3") and shot put (48'11"). Andrew Clark also made the podium in shot put, placing 2nd with a 46'9" throw. Maddax McCaw had a solid meet, finishing 3rd in the 300 hurdles (44.6), and earning 6th in both long jump (18'8") and the 110 hurdles (17.55 PR). For the girls, Bayleigh Clapp took 2nd in long jump (16'5.5") and 3rd in the 100m (13.23). Kayla Goward and Raegyn Mayer also placed in long jump, taking 4th and 6th respectively. Mayer added a 5th-place finish in the 100m (13.37). The 4x800 relay team of Maizy Matthews, Avery Westall, Ally Schmitz, and Danica Aldrich placed 3rd with a time of 10:48.53. Other standout performances included: Kylo Riedel – 6th in the 100 hurdles (17.26) Maizy Matthews – 5th in the 1600 (6:01.03) 4x100 relay (Riedel, Goward, Dasia Denwiddie, Clapp) – 2nd in 53.08 Dasia Denwiddie – 5th in the 400 (1:04.23) Danica Aldrich – 3rd in the 3200 (12:21.21) Nataly Vine – 6th in the 3200 with a huge PR, dropping from 13:06.88 to 12:46.69 4x400 relay (Denwiddie, Riedel, Westall, Clapp) – 3rd in 4:23.81 Boys Golf The boys golf team traveled to North Star golf course for their third MSAC league meet. The Huskies came in first finishing 25 strokes in front of second place Mt. Pleasant Sacred Heart. The Huskies were led by Blaze Snyder's scorching 39, Noah Barr came in with a tidy 42, the Suhr brothers came in third and fourth, Keegan with a 43 and Carter 44. Dylan Davenport shot a 48 and Derreck Becker rounded out the strong showing with a 49. The Huskies are going to compete in a Junior Varsity event on Monday, May 5 at Sandy Ridge golf course in Midland, giving some younger golfers a chance to get some competitive action. GO HUSKIES
